E-840 Irrometers for Soil Moisture
The Irrometer (tensiometer) has been in use world wide to measure and display root zone soil moisture. The instrument consists of a sealed water filled tube equipped with a porous tip at the bottom. Complete information as to operation can be supplied upon request.
Standard features include a large reservoir and a handy screw cap for replacing water lost to action of drying soil. Partial unscrewing releases air and refills tube from the reservoir. All joints are permanently scaled. Special fluid supplied with the service unit (required with initial order) colors the water for easy observation of level. A soil coring tool should also be included with initial order to provide proper hole diameter for best contact down to 30". Following models and accessories are available:
E-845 Service Unit-required with initial purchase; includes hand vacuum pump with test gauge, fluid for coloring water and 25 monthly chart forms.
E-846 Soil Coring Tool-suggested with initial order to provide proper hole diameter for installing irrometer; 30" long.
Installing tool suggested with initial order. That includes a drop hammer.
