D1300 Power Soil Drill
This is the most convenient, easiest to use gasoline powered soil drill now available. It is designed for one man operation. The engine is mounted on 10" semipneumatic tires connected to the power unit by a 7 ft. long torque tube. By mounting the motor 7 feet from the transmission, the noise and fumes from the 8 HP, 4 cycle engine are greatly reduced and the technician holds only the lightweight throttle and handle assembly with an appropriate auger. The torque tube prevents kickback to the operator and is equipped with a spring loaded button for ease in connecting the tube at the job site or disconnecting when moving from site to site.
Augers for use with the power soil drill are convenient snap-on or screw-on as indicated. All are full flighted and include replaceable points and blades. Extensions are also full flighted except for the tube extension. The depth capacity on an average type soil using a 4" diameter auger and full flighted extensions is about 12 feet. At these depths, the tripod lifting frame is recommended. (See D1350).
A lower priced 5 HP drill is also offered, but we think the 8 HP unit listed here is more suitable for soil sampling. Hydraulic powered soil drills are also available for drilling larger, deeper holes in less time.
Shipping Weight: 130 lb (59kg); 8 cu. ft.
